UPLB Department of Economics hosts ENERCON 2022: The 3rd International Conference on Energy and Environmental Economics

Last July 28-29, the UPLB Department of Economics of the College of Economics and Management hosted ENERCON 2022: The 3rd International Conference on Energy and Environmental Economics, with the theme “Harnessing sustainable energy and ensuring resilient environments toward economic recovery” 

Various papers from local and foreign universities and research institutions were presented during the parallel sessions. The topics covered key issues on sustainable development, economy-environment linkages, environment and energy policy, and natural resource valuation and management.

The plenary sessions featured international energy and environmental economics experts which include Dr. Anil Markandya from the University of Basque Country (Spain), Dr. Philip Andrews-Speed from the National University of Singapore, Dr. Nancy Olewiler from the Simon Fraser University (Canada), Dr. Steven Puller from the Texas A&M University (USA), and Dr. David Stern from the Australian National University. Dr. Enrico Paringit of the DOST-PCIEERD capped the conference with a presentation on the programs and policy directions of the government toward the development and adoption of renewable and sustainable energy.
