Asst. Prof. Paul Joseph B. Ramirez and Asst. Prof. Veronica I. Castillo of the UPLB Department of Economics were invited as resource speakers to conduct a Trainers’ Training on Impact Assessment organized by the Cagayan State University (CSU) last May 22-24, 2023. This was in response to the request of CSU faculty members for impact assessment training to better guide the colleges and extension coordinators in coming up with their own impact assessment of extension projects.

Twenty-eight selected faculty members from nine campuses of CSU actively participated and shared their research experiences during the event. During the opening program, resource persons, officials, and participants were warmly welcomed by Dr. Emily Garcia representing the CSU Gonzaga Campus Executive Officer, Dr. Froilan Pacris, as the host campus for the training. The training was facilitated by Mr. Jezreel Pattaguan, Program Chair of the AB Economics of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of CSU-Carig, assisted by Mr. Jayron B. Corpuz, Devcom Staff, and Ms. Mylene Ermitanio, CSUG RDE coordinator. Dir. Josie Y. Bas-ong, CSU Director for Extension and TVET, was also fully present during the event to make sure that the key takeaways are leveled-off to the needs of the participants. Dr. Junel B. Guzman, CSU Vice President for Research, Development, Extension (RDE), ended the program with a motivational call to action to apply the participants’ learnings to the CSU’s research and extension activities.

All participants are required to conduct an echoing activity on their respective CSU campuses on or before June 30, 2023.
